About the role

Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The technician serves as an expert technical resource, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and third-party vendors, and acts as a focal point for all facility operations within a given data center.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work performed within mission-critical space is done to high quality without impact to internal/external customers.
• Transfer knowledge and train other technicians.
• Utilize safe working practices, including lockout/tagout, SDS, and good housekeeping methods.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, safety requirements, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOPs.
• Troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
• Use hand tools and test equipment to install, troubleshoot, and repair parts according to specifications, MOPs, manufacturer’s literature, and industry best practices.
• Perform daily walk-throughs of the facility to document parameters such as power availability, temperature, humidity, and alarm status for trend analysis.
• Monitor and adjust site Building Automation System (BAS) following site MOPs and SOPs.
• Implement site-specific processes and procedures, including procedure creation, incident reporting, PM standards, CMMS standards, and work order management.
• Understand the sequence of operations, critical equipment failure impacts, and maintain a holistic view of critical environment infrastructure.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience supporting mission-critical environments with a high school diploma or GED.
• Current electrical/mechanical Journeyman’s license preferred.
• Hands-on electrical or mechanical skill, with competence in the non-expertise area (e.g., electrical expertise with mechanical competence, or vice-versa).
• Ability to operate and perform routine and emergency service on state-of-the-art critical systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Mechanical and/or electrical OEM factory-specific training or experience preferred.
• Knowledge and experience using basic computer applications.
