About the Role

This role is responsible for performing beginner to intermediate level engineering work activities and projects, applying engineering knowledge to accomplish assigned objectives safely, effectively, efficiently, and economically.

Responsibilities

• Technical Expertise:
  • Possesses intermediate-level knowledge and performs varied assignments with proficiency in applying engineering theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analysis.
  • Demonstrates competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity (e.g., dividing problems into component steps and performing analysis for each).
  • Understands interrelationships between systems and component equipment.
  • Analyzes and recommends enhancements to business processes.
• Leadership & Guidance:
  • Coordinates work activities of others within the work group, department, or other corporate entities to complete routine activities.
  • Performs routine engineering activities with minimal direction from higher-level employees.
  • Follows company policies, practices, standards, and regulations required by external agencies.
  • Provides training and guidance to lower-level employees.
• Planning & Organization:
  • Coordinates the development of input necessary to forecast costs for routine projects, improvements, and requisitions.
  • Uses scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts, etc.) for budget and planning activities.
  • Initiates corrective action when project objectives are not being met.
• Problem Solving & Initiative:
  • Resolves and initiates solutions to routine problems, which may require additional definition or clarification before analysis.
  • Identifies problems beyond routine scope and seeks opportunities to embrace new ideas and approaches.
• Communication:
  • Develops, reviews, or presents technical reports (e.g., improvement requisitions, studies, analyses) in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
• Interpersonal Skills:
  • Actively participates as a team member, networking with peers inside and outside the organization.
  • Identifies key stakeholders and uses informal networks to accomplish tasks.
  • Resolves conflicts and builds consensus.
• Decision Making:
  • Makes decisions subject to review within established policies and procedures.

  • Develops an understanding of utility regulation and financing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET (Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).
• Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology will be considered for the role of Engineering Technologist Associate.
• This is an entry-level position; no prior engineering experience is required.
• VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a non-ABET-accredited program.

Pay

• Engineer Associate: $86,000
• Engineer: $86,000–$110,000
• Engineering Technologist Associate: $86,000
• Engineering Technologist: $86,000–$110,000

Compensation Grade: SP20-006 | Compensation Range: $74,551.00–$128,688.00

Schedule

Physical Demand Level: Sedentary Work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may include walking or standing for brief periods.
