Engineer 2 - Transmission Line

GAI is seeking an Engineer 2 Transmission Line to join our Power Delivery team working remotely based in Homestead, PA.

Responsibilities

• Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery, including:
  • Review and preparation of Specification Packages
  • Review and preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
  • Review, design, and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower (bonus)
  • Review, design, and Analysis of foundations
  • Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and other required codes, standards, and specifications
  • Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations
  • Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects
• Demonstrate attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Perform complex tasks typically following established processes
• Implement effective engineering methods, provide technical guidance, and act as a resource for engineers and designers
• Directly manage projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed
• Design a complete project, system, component, or process
• Prepare complete plans, specifications, and other project documents
• Design and conduct analyses and interpret test data
• Begin to develop and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
• Assign tasks to other technical and non-technical staff
• Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work
• Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
• Assist with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs
• Receive general direction on key objectives and guidance on unconventional/complex problems
• Mentor junior staff by providing guidance, explaining professional responsibilities, and reviewing work products
• Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments
• Communicate effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred)
• PE Required
• 6+ years of experience in transmission line design
• Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE)
• Preferred experience with PLS-TOWER and FAD Tools
• Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles
• Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships
• Transmission line design experience
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong organization and team-focus with the ability to supervise and mentor junior staff
• Eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems

• Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance
• Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings
