Distribution Engineer Tuscaloosa/Northport, AL On-Site Compensation: $55 - $59 per hour Position Type: Long Term Contract About The Role Brooksource is seeking a Distribution Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of electrical power distribution systems in the Tuscaloosa/Northport, AL area. This long-term contract role is open to both entry-level engineers and experienced professionals with 5–10 years of experience. The Distribution Engineer will play a key role in improving the reliability and efficiency of electrical distribution networks, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. Candidates must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the Tuscaloosa/Northport area (no per diem provided). What You'll Do Design and plan electrical power distribution systems, including power lines and related infrastructure.Analyze distribution networks to improve reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.Perform technical calculations such as load flow, fault analysis, and voltage drop calculations.Manage engineering projects from planning and design through implementation and maintenance.Ensure designs meet applicable safety standards, regulations, and environmental requirements.Identify opportunities for system upgrades and improvements while maintaining accurate engineering documentation.Collaborate with engineers, field technicians, and project managers to ensure quality and project success. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and engineering design principles.Experience with distribution system design software is a plus.Understanding of industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.Project planning and management experience is a plus, particularly for experienced candidates.Strong communication skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Current residence in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area or willingness to relocate (no per diem provided).
