About the role
Pike Engineering is seeking a Civil-Structural Engineer to join our Transmission Substation engineering and design team. This role includes both direct billable client work and project management support.
Responsibilities
- Provide expertise and support to Transmission Substation engineering and design teams.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering, technical, and design problems.
- Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities.
- Create and update civil-structural drawing packages, including foundations, structural steel, bus and cable.
- Create and manage project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation projects.
- Analyze new and existing steel (or wood) structures using modeling software.
- Design and procure transformer oil containment systems.
- Oversee the work of junior staff and mentor designers/drafters.
- Collaborate with senior civil engineers to create best practices, quality assurance, and processes and procedures.
- Communicate with customer’s internal engineers and technical personnel on a day-to-day basis.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers.
- Monitor deliverables, schedules, and present solutions to the client.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Civil Engineering.
- A required Engineering Degree awarded from a College of University that is accredited by ABET.
- Experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer within the electrical industry in the field of power delivery (2-4 years).
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification strongly preferred.
- Actively working towards obtaining Professional Engineering (PE) license with the ability to be licensed within two years.

- Understanding of practical research for engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or with limited supervision as well as be a productive member of a team.
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of advanced electrical engineering concepts as they impact civil-structural designs.
