Astrion has an opening for a part-time, remote Engineer I to support the study of tribo-charging during extra-vehicular activities (EVAs) on the lunar surface—a key electrostatic-discharge (ESD) risk for crew safety. The role focuses on developing a high-level test plan to characterize tribocharging, measuring it on various suit materials at Kennedy Space Center, and supporting vacuum-chamber tests at Marshall Space Flight Center to quantify the tribocharging environment for the Artemis III mission. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass NASA or other government background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Support laboratory operations and technical activities.
  • Assemble, modify, maintain, and test aerospace hardware and laboratory equipment.
  • Collect and document test data and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Follow laboratory procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technicians to accomplish project objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in ESPL (Electrostatics & Surface Physics Laboratory) operations and test procedures.
  • Experience with the electrometer device used on previous projects including LEDM and ERIE.
  • U.S. citizenship.
