About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of the physical plant, including HVAC systems, facility mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and general maintenance tasks. This role may require operation of a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular testing, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, and kitchen equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Ensure the safety and efficiency of all electrical systems within the facility; conduct routine inspections and repairs as necessary.
• Perform maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on high-pressure vessels, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Requires holding a Philadelphia Class A Stationary Engineer Certificate or obtaining it within the first year of employment.
• Perform general carpentry, painting, and other assigned tasks to maintain facility standards and address maintenance requests.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to support maintenance and repair activities.
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Requirements

• High school education / GED or Trade School required.
• Five (5) years’ experience in plant engineering or related field preferred.
• General knowledge of Life Safety Code and National Electrical Code.
• Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile individuals within the facility.
• Must meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
• Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty pounds to a height of five feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of fifteen feet.
• Valid driver’s license without restriction; ability to successfully complete authorized driver qualifications may be required.

$29.75/hour
