Engineer 1

Responsibilities

• Maintain repairs and perform preventive maintenance on hotel air conditioning systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all hotel equipment, including boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, and more.
• Take required readings on equipment and test cooling towers.
• Replace and program televisions as needed.
• Replace and repair light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, and fixtures.
• Perform furniture repair and replace pumps.
• Perform plumbing repairs such as clogged drains, copper pipes, changing washers, handles, and fittings.
• Understand and read blueprints and wiring diagrams, trace, and repair water lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
• Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records.
• Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas.
• Paint designated areas and repair and finish wall coverings.
• Repair and program hotel electronic lock systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required.
• At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Trade school and/or College course work in related field helpful.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with all levels of employees and guests.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Able to handle problems, anticipate guest or operational needs, and solve issues as necessary.
• Effective in applying complex information to meet objectives.
• Able to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
• Able to show initiative and anticipate guest or operational needs.
