Engine Room Responsible

About the Role

Serves primarily as an engine room watch stander, ensuring the operation of all mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, machinery, propulsion plant, and other controlling systems on the vessel are maintained to the highest operational standards. Responsible for implementing and upholding safety and environmental compliance requirements under the direction of the Maintenance Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Ensure through observation, records, and inspections that all mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and systems meet regulatory and Noble’s requirements.
• Maintain and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and equipment in accordance with Noble’s Maintenance System, manufacturer recommendations, and regulatory codes.
• Monitor or perform repairs, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Oversee modifications to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as directed by the 2nd Engineer.
• Maintain updated vessel drawings and perform daily visual inspections of equipment.
• Ensure logs, preventive maintenance records, and documentation for general maintenance, operation, and repairs are accurate and complete.
• Implement and maintain the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) for mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Monitor equipment logs and recommend repair priorities.
• Review and report discrepancies in equipment and spare parts inventories; requisition spare parts, tools, and materials.
• Direct the activities of unlicensed engineering personnel.
• Ensure conformance to Company policies, local and international regulations, and pollution control requirements.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on mechanical equipment, including auxiliary boilers, propulsion and auxiliary diesel engines, and auxiliary systems (fuel oil, cooling water, lube oil).
• Assist with maintenance and repair of power plants, drilling equipment, marine equipment (cranes, thrusters, ballast pumps), and third-party equipment.
• Monitor and control the use of consumables/materials; generate requisitions as required.
• Carry out classification society surveys as part of continuous machinery surveys.
• Manage cooling water treatment, potable water testing, lube oil testing, and storage of bulk lube oil.
• Perform machinery overhauls, dismantling, repairs, reassembly, and operational testing.
• Ensure personnel assigned to watch are aware of their duties during scheduled drills.
• Monitor power plants and power distribution to ensure continuous availability.
• Operate, maintain, and repair engine cooling water, lube oil, fuel systems, oily water separators, water makers, and sewage treatment plants.
• Implement outstanding recommendations from audits by clients, regulatory authorities, or rig management.

• Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure all operations proceed safely; correct and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Promote a zero-incident and no-harm workplace by adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code and Hazard Identification Tool.
• Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with Noble's Management System and government regulations.
• Initiate safety stand-downs when unplanned hazards or unexpected results are observed.
• Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
• Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks.
• Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and hazard assessments as required.

Requirements

• 6+ months of experience as a 3rd Engineer or Oiler; offshore drilling maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid Unlimited 3rd/Assistant Engineer Steam, Gas Turbine, or Diesel national license (if applicable).
• Completion of all training requirements for the position within the designated time period.
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Strong experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Basic knowledge of Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS).
• Strong experience with mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
• Complete understanding and use of the Noble Maintenance System.
• Ability to work without constant supervision.

Directly supervises unlicensed engineering personnel.
