About the Role

Serves primarily as an engine room watch stander, working under the direction of the Maintenance Engineer to ensure the operation of all mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, machinery, propulsion plant, and other controlling systems and equipment on the vessel are maintained to the highest operational standards. Responsible for implementing and upholding safety and environmental compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of experience as a 3rd Engineer or Oiler; maintenance experience in an offshore drilling operation preferred.
• Valid Unlimited 3rd/Assistant Engineer Steam, Gas Turbine, or Diesel national license, if applicable.
• Completion of all training requirements for the position within the designated time period.
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Strong experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Basic Preventive Maintenance Systems knowledge.
• Strong experience with mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
• Complete understanding and use of the Noble Maintenance System.
• Able to work without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

• Ensure through observation, records, and inspections that all mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and systems meet regulatory and Noble’s requirements.
• Maintain mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in accordance with Noble’s Maintenance System, manufacturer’s recommendations, the Vessel Operating Manual, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor or perform repairs, including rebuilding systems to ensure proper, safe, and economical operation.
• Oversee modifications to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as directed by the 2nd Engineer.
• Maintain updated vessel drawings.
• Perform troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
• Conduct daily visual inspections, diagnose malfunctions, and address potential hazards or deteriorating conditions.
• Identify root causes of failures in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Maintain logs, preventive maintenance records, and documentation for operations and repairs.
• Monitor equipment logs to ensure operating and maintenance standards are upheld.
• Recommend repair priorities and implement the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS).
• Maintain PMS records for quality and timeliness.
• Review and report discrepancies in equipment and spare parts inventories; resolve issues as necessary.
• Requisition spare parts, tools, and materials for repairs.
• Maintain test records, including calibrating combustion control.
• Direct unlicensed engineering personnel.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, local and international regulations, and pollution requirements.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Ensure accurate and complete reports for repair and maintenance.
• On Diesel or Gas Turbine vessels, operate, maintain, and repair auxiliary boilers, propulsion and auxiliary diesel engines, and related systems (fuel oil, cooling water, lube oil).
• Assist with maintenance and repair of power plants, cooling water systems, lube oil systems, and fuel systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drilling equipment.
• Maintain marine equipment (cranes, thrusters, ballast pumps, valves, auxiliary equipment).
• Implement recommendations from audits by clients, regulatory authorities, or rig management.
• Monitor and control the use of consumables/materials; generate requisitions as required.
• Ensure third-party equipment is fit for purpose, certified, correctly installed, and maintained.
• Ensure service, maintenance, and operational reports are accurate and complete.
• Inform supervisors and department heads of technical problems affecting safe rig operation.
• Carry out classification society surveys as part of continuous machinery surveys.
• Manage cooling water treatment for main propulsion engines, auxiliary generators, and other water-cooled systems.
• Manage potable water testing and treatment, bulk lube oil storage, and routine lube oil testing.
• Perform machinery overhauls, including dismantling, repairing, reassembling, and testing equipment.
• Ensure watch personnel are aware of their duties during scheduled drills and participate in them.
• Monitor power plant controls and distribution to ensure continuous power availability.
• Operate, maintain, and repair engine cooling water, lube oil, and fuel systems.
• Operate and maintain oily water separators and water makers.
• Operate and maintain the Sewage Treatment Plant.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Attend and participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with Noble's Management System.
• Initiate safety stand-downs for unplanned hazards or unexpected results.
• Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
• Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks.
• Perform emergency duties without specific orders.
• Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and hazard assessments.
• Ensure compliance with all government regulations.
