About the role
The Engagement Specialist supports the Crisis Care service team and individuals in the community experiencing a crisis. The team includes Supervisors, Crisis Directors, therapists, case managers, MHPs, QMHPs, and those in crisis.
Responsibilities
- Provides crisis response during on-call rotation within the required response timeframe
- Responds to crises in person, by phone, in the office, or via video, as approved by program and supervisor
- Must be available to work outside of regular office hours, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Works constructively with clients, other providers, and the community
- Requires knowledge of community resources for referral purposes
- Understands and applies the Mental Health Code and the Confidentiality Act
- Understands and applies applicable agency policies and procedures
- Engages and works effectively with individuals in mental health or substance abuse crises
- Works cooperatively with other agencies, community partners, and professionals
- Observes and submits accurate written documentation regarding interactions and services provided
- Works independently, responsibly, and organically
- Travels to transport individuals (adults and children) while adhering to program safety guidelines
- Is reliable and flexible to meet the program's needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Engagement/home visiting experience preferred
- Funder-required lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance abuse services preferred
- Three years post-lived experience preferred
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and acceptable driving record with OHU coverage for auto insurance
- Community resource experience preferred
