About the role
The AWS Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Engagement Manager (EM) to lead the delivery of complex cloud solution projects. The EM will combine technical expertise with strong project leadership skills to drive successful implementations of AWS-based solutions for clients.
Responsibilities
- Led and managed complex cloud migration and implementation projects
- Leveraged comprehensive knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and best practices to guide technical decisions and strategic planning
- Bridged business requirements with technical solutions, facilitated engineering discussions, and ensured alignment with customer business outcomes
- Distilled customer needs into clear technical requirements and mapped them to business outcomes
- Decomposed complex technical problems into actionable, deliverable solutions
- Contributed to technical documentation and defined documentation standards
Requirements
- Possessed strong technology and program/project management experience
- Validated technical solutions against business goals, recognized when additional technical evaluation was needed, and managed technical risks
- Effectively communicated technical concepts to both technical and business audiences
- Lead increasingly complex technical projects, shaped cross-organizational technical strategies, and established best practices in their domain
- Executed project plans, proactively identified and managed risks, resolved issues, escalated when appropriate, and drove projects to successful completion, exceeding customer expectations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of cloud computing experience
- 5+ years of IT implementation experience
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of professional work experience, or experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings
- Knowledge of AWS services
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
- Experience applying AWS frameworks like Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Framework
- Proven ability to establish technical credibility with engineering teams and senior technical decision-makers
- Experience supporting National Security mission systems, and the ability to represent AWS within the customer's environment, driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management, and risk mitigation
- Held at least one active project management certification, understood the value proposition of the public cloud, and had delivered cloud engagements, presented to C-level executives and technical subject matter experts, balanced multiple stakeholders, and managed projects with 10+ resources, 6+ months, or $250k+ in contract value.
