Purpose of the Role

Engage Estero Board Members serve as stewards of the community’s future, providing strategic oversight, informed judgment, and leadership on the issues that most directly affect Estero’s quality of life. This role is designed for individuals who want to translate their experience into lasting community impact.

Organizational Overview

Engage Estero is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan, volunteer-driven community engagement association dedicated to informing, engaging, and advocating for the Greater Estero community. The organization plays a central role in elevating public dialogue on transportation, development, environmental stewardship, and other long-term issues, while maintaining constructive relationships with local and county leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic Governance

    • Help define and guide the organization’s priorities, initiatives, and annual objectives
    • Provide oversight of key issues affecting Estero, including infrastructure, growth, and community planning
    • Contribute to long-range positioning and organizational sustainability
  • Policy Influence & Community Impact

    • Participate in thoughtful discussion and position formation on community issues
    • Support engagement with local officials, agencies, and stakeholders
    • Act as a credible ambassador for Engage Estero within the community
  • Organizational Leadership

    • Uphold the mission, integrity, and independence of the organization
    • Support leadership in executing programs, forums, and public outreach efforts
    • Offer professional expertise to strengthen decision-making and outcomes
  • Community Engagement

    • Stay informed on local issues and resident concerns
    • Help expand community awareness and participation in Engage Estero initiatives
    • Encourage constructive, fact-based dialogue

Time Commitment

  • Attend six Board meetings per year (structured, efficient, and outcome-focused)
  • Periodic participation in key events, forums, or committee work as available
  • Occasional engagement with community stakeholders or partners

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking individuals who bring both experience and a strong sense of community responsibility:

  • Former or current C-level executives, senior leaders, or professionals
  • Active residents of the Greater Estero community
  • Strategic thinkers with sound judgment and the ability to evaluate complex issues
  • Collaborative, respectful, and solutions-oriented
  • Committed to non-partisan, community-first decision making

Prior board experience is valuable but not required.
