Energy & Utilities Laboratory Technician

About the Role

Airswift is seeking an Energy & Utilities Laboratory Technician for a one-year contract in Theodore, Alabama, with a major client. The role involves analyzing and documenting routine samples, maintaining laboratory instrumentation, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The position requires frequent use of a company watercraft for sample collection and interfaces with production and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and document routine samples from production and on-site customers.
• Interpret and evaluate results before reporting to production.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration on laboratory instrumentation, including inline and portable/hand-held instruments.
• Validate instruments using references and standards.
• Enter data into spreadsheets and the SAP system.
• Review and follow written SOPs while assisting in maintaining all ISO documentation.
• Help ensure training procedures are up-to-date.
• Maintain the dry storeroom (supplies) and a clean, safe work area.
• Participate in 5S programs and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Attend safety meetings and comply with site EHSSQ goals and regulations.
• Assist in on-the-job training (OJT) for new technicians.
• Maintain DMRQ certification.
• Coordinate, set up, and perform whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing on vertebrate and invertebrate species as required.
• Use a company watercraft to collect samples, requiring watercraft certification and safe operation/maintenance of associated instruments.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate analytical results effectively with production and engineering teams.
• Obtain and maintain watercraft certification.
• Demonstrate safe operation and maintenance of watercraft and associated analytical instruments.

Schedule

5/40 – 12-hour rotating day shifts (5 AM to 5 PM) with built-in PTO coverage for other shift technicians.

Job Type

W2 contract (One Year with possibility for extension).
