- Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- The Project Manager VI is the second level in KCI Energy’s Project Management track, designed for individuals adept at handling projects of increased scope and complexity.
- This role requires overseeing a larger portfolio of responsibilities, including the coordination of multiple subconsultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- The Project Manager VI plays a pivotal role in driving successful project outcomes, ensuring that all aspects—from planning through completion—are executed with precision.
- The Key Responsibilities Of This Role Include:
- Project Execution and Technical Oversight
- Full management of all required project management and technical deliverables required in the contract scope of work.
- Comparison of field data to design plans and scope.
- Conducting site visits and gathering data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs as needed.
- Preparing all phases of designs and/or deliverables prior to submitting for approval.
- Reading and interpreting technical documents required for project execution.
- Providing solutions and/or guidance to resolve issues/challenges during project implementation or development.
- Maintaining knowledge of current Pennsylvania State and/or Municipal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Project Management And Leadership
- Managing all aspects of the project(s), including technical staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Developing and communicating the Project Management Plan for the project, outlining project objectives, scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Developing project specific scope of work and contract documents in compliance with client requirements and in alignment with industry standard of care.
- Effectively managing the project scope, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project requirements.
- Maintaining project schedules, proactively identifying and addressing potential delays or conflicts to minimize impact on project timelines.
- Monitoring project budgets and expenditures, implementing cost-control measures as needed to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints.
- Upholding high-quality standards throughout project execution, overseeing quality assurance processes and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices and project specific specifications.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the client, maintaining open communication and addressing client concerns or inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and project team members to drive project success and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Actively managing the project for compliance with contract scope, schedule, fee including change orders.
- Allocating resources efficiently, ensuring that the project team is adequately staffed and equipped to meet project demands.
- Identifying, assessing, and managing project risks and developing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project.
- Training, Development, And Compliance
- Mentoring staff to assist in their training and development.
- Complying with all KCI policies and procedures.
- Providing input to develop project-specific safety plans and implementing project safety plans to ensure compliance with all Federal, state, and local safety rules and regulations.
- Financial Management And Reporting
- Experienced at negotiating contract terms, scope, and fees with a client/subconsultant.
- Experienced at developing project schedules from inception to completion.
- Should be able to recognize areas where tasks can be done concurrently to optimize schedule.
- Experienced with contract development for clients/subconsultants.
- Reporting monthly proposal/business development results to Sr. PM or Practice Leader.
- Achieving or exceeding budgeted individual utilization target (70%-80% typical).
- Charting and providing project performance results, reporting on progress, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Delivering all projects on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope.
- Preparation and submission of monthly project completion report.
- Preparation of inter-practice agreements and/or outside subcontracts as required.
- Preparation of monthly progress reports for all projects and being able to discuss in monthly Project Review Meetings.
- Responsible for project cash management (WIP/AR) and providing comments to Finance and Operations monthly.
- Setting up new projects and providing weekly new project data to the Sr. PM or Practice Leader.
- Searching for ways to improve efficiency while lowering project cost.
- Business Development And Marketing
- Participating in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and the preparation of qualification/experience statements.
- Identifying new business opportunities, coordinating and participating in project presentations to clients and other external groups, developing and organizing proposal teams, and promoting KCI’s capabilities among existing and prospective clients.
- Assisting project closeout with an overall project write-up and pictures of completed project for marketing/resume use.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (AEC Industry) and minimum of 3 years of related professional experience, or 7 years of equivalent professional experience in the electric distribution sector.
- Master's Degree in related field (AEC Industry) preferred.
- Experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to inspire and motivate project teams.
- Proven organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Technical knowledge in the specific field of the project.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, with the ability to develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and documentation.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to project management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Negotiation skills to manage contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements effectively.
- Understanding of accounting principles to effectively manage project budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
Required Certificates, Licenses, And/or Registrations
- Successful completion of the KCI PM Training and Contract Training for current employees) or ability to complete within six months (for new hires.)
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
- Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
