Energy Pricing Analyst
About the role
This position is an exciting opportunity in California energy policy and electric industry pricing strategy. The role will be required to staff complex ratesetting and policy proceedings, projects and programs for designing and implementing electric rate structures that promote electrification, decarbonization, and customer equity, including the prudent interconnection of data centers. In addition, this position will entail advisory support of management, Administrative Law Judges, Commissioners, and other key decision-makers. The successful candidate will embrace the tightrope act of developing advanced rates that incentivize more efficient grid utilization, continued clean energy development and aggressive customer protections amid the pressures of rapid technological innovation.
Responsibilities
- Staff complex ratesetting and policy proceedings, projects and programs for designing and implementing electric rate structures
- Support management, Administrative Law Judges, Commissioners, and other key decision-makers with advisory services
- Develop advanced rates that incentivize more efficient grid utilization, continued clean energy development and customer protections
Qualifications
- Current status in the classification, eligibility for lateral transfer, reinstatement, list or LEAP eligibility, in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or SROA and/or Surplus eligibility
- Must meet Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)
Skills
- Quantitative reasoning ability
- Spreadsheet and modeling skills
- Ability to effectively interpret data to formulate conclusions and recommendations
- Ability to work independently and with large interdisciplinary teams involving development of analytical work products under tight deadlines
- Ability to prepare written briefings, reports, recommendations, or other materials on technical subject matter based on analysis and research
Pay
$7,980.00 - $9,994.00 (salary range excludes temporary reduction under Personal Leave Program 2025; new to state candidates hired at minimum salary or alternate range minimum when applicable)
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position with hybrid telework available in Los Angeles County
