JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complex Data Extraction & Integration: Navigate multiple legacy and modern systems (CIS, MDM, GIS, and Billing) to identify relevant data points. Write advanced SQL queries to join disparate tables across different schemas.
  • Data Wrangling & Quality Assurance: Lead the "clean-up" of inaccurate or incomplete datasets. Utilize Python or SQL to identify outliers, handle missing values, and normalize data.
  • Load & Demand Analysis: Analyze historical load profiles to identify patterns, peaks, and anomalies. Translate raw interval data into actionable insights for resource planning.
  • B2B Customer Segmentation: Develop sophisticated segmentation models for B2B clients based on consumption behavior, industry codes (NAICS/SIC), and volatility metrics to support targeted decision making.
  • Domain Translation: Act as a bridge between technical IT teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that data outputs reflect the physical realities of the grid and energy markets.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in data analysis specifically within the Utility, IPP (Independent Power Producer), or Renewable Energy sectors.
  • Education: Degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to "detective" your way through inaccurate data and find the "source of truth."
  • Communication: Ability to explain complex data discrepancies to non-technical business leaders.
  • Technical Requirements: Advanced SQL: Mastery of complex joins, window functions, and CTEs. Ability to optimize queries for large-scale utility datasets is critical. Programming: Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy) for data manipulation and automated cleaning scripts. Utility Domain Expertise: A fundamental understanding of what utility data represents is critical. Systems Knowledge: Experience working with Utility-specific systems such as SAP IS-U, Oracle Utilities, or Meter Data Management (MDM) platforms is beneficial.
