About the role
We are looking for an Energy Management Coach to lead a portfolio of Commercial and Institutional participants through our Strategic Energy Management (SEM) programs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver SEM curriculum through individual coaching and group workshops.
- Build strong participant relationships and support achievement of targeted outcomes and milestones.
- Track participant progress and contribute to program energy savings targets.
- Apply knowledge of energy conservation measures, mechanical systems, building science, and energy performance tracking.
- Adapt coaching techniques to participant readiness and needs while maintaining appropriate scope (coach, not consultant).
- Own assigned cohort(s), manage workload effectively, and maintain strong documentation practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of program materials, SOPs, and delivery practices.
- Collaborate positively with the coaching team and model a people-first approach.
Requirements
- Five to ten years of professional experience, ideally in energy management in a commercial setting (i.e. buildings), or other relevant fields, such as:
- Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management
- Building science
- Environmental and resource management
- Sustainability
- Change management
- Management systems
- Competency with building energy using equipment and processes.
- Demonstrated strong consulting or coaching experience – excellent listener and ability to analyze a conversation and respond flexibly and insightfully.
- Master problem-solver. You dig to get at the root cause, and you empower people to find solutions they can execute.
- Post secondary education in engineering, environmental science or related field and technical qualifications such as Certified Energy Manager.
- Project management skills including the ability to lead projects on time and on budget.
- Ability to conduct data analysis.
- Can work quickly to review and edit professional documents.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Valid Class G driver's license.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of organizational performance – change management, organizational development.
- P.Eng., CEM, CMVP or other relevant certifications.
- Professional Coaching certificate/ qualifications
- Knowledge of continuous improvement – e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, ISO Management Systems.
- Knowledge of the ISO 50001, Energy Management Systems Standard or other ISO Standards.
- Knowledge of federal (Canadian) and provincial (Ontario) energy conservation programs and incentives.
- Experience with energy monitoring, instrumentation, and controls and energy efficiency technologies.
