Energy Data & Reporting Analyst

About the Role

The Energy Data and Reporting Analyst collects, analyzes, and presents energy-related data to support decision-making, efficiency improvements, and compliance for Gerdau’s North American Operations. This role bridges technical data analysis with business reporting, ensuring energy usage, costs, and performance are accurately tracked and communicated.

The Analyst/Specialist provides decision support through financial and situational analysis, supporting the North American Energy and Industrial Gases Team with reporting, analytics, and special projects. The role involves developing business intelligence solutions and analytical support across North American business units, analyzing market conditions, opportunities, and trends, and assisting in commercial, regulatory, and governmental activities to protect and further Gerdau’s interests in energy-related areas.

Responsibilities

• Gather energy data from internal systems, SAP, utility invoices, and external sources; maintain and update databases, dashboards, and Power BI.
• Perform statistical and predictive modeling to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for energy management; assist the Energy Team with forecasts and performance tracking.
• Create detailed reports, dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Databricks), and visualizations for internal stakeholder presentations.
• Collaborate with the Energy Team, project managers, IT, accounting, finance, and other departments to integrate data into energy management reporting systems.
• Analyze business unit consumption and requirements for energy and industrial gases, as well as related supplies.
• Assist the Energy Team in obtaining competitive bids and support negotiations with supply arrangements under the direction of the Director of Energy.
• Develop and maintain effective business and professional contacts to stay informed about market conditions, opportunities, and trends.
• Analyze opportunities, create models, develop talking points, and prepare advocacy materials, RFPs, contracts, and forecasts.
• Represent the company in commercial, regulatory, and governmental activities related to energy.
• Work with professionals, consulting resources, and counsel to secure specialized assistance as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Data Science, Analytics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Excel, SQL, data modeling, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Databricks).
• Experience with energy coefficients, conversions, and calculations.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret complex datasets and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Understanding of energy terms, markets, regulations, and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) markets.
