Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred)
  • 5 years of energy-management-system operations or related experience (required)
  • Extensive energy-management experience (preferred)

  • Effective communication with customers, maintenance craftsmen, contractors, and vendors
  • Ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to the Energy Manager in building automation and control while maintaining HVAC and indoor-air-quality standards for building occupants
  • Maintain and utilize the computerized energy-management system to research and resolve customer complaints
  • Work with HVAC technicians to maintain system-wide HVAC equipment and ensure effective operation
  • Oversee processing of school HVAC electronic schedule requests for after-hours use
  • Create and implement work orders, projects, procedures, and new initiatives with the Energy Manager, Facilities and Operations Area Manager, Dispatcher, and other district personnel
  • Collaborate with skilled technicians to achieve Building Maintenance Department goals
  • Evaluate, monitor, and track indoor air quality on a routine basis
  • Oversee value engineering by reviewing bid packages (prints and specifications) for all new schools and additions
  • Evaluate and monitor EMS controls and operations of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems before customer occupancy of new schools or additions
  • Interact with contractors, district personnel, and outside personnel to achieve Building Maintenance Department goals
  • Evaluate and review controls and equipment for improved sequence of operations
  • Analyze, review, and price EMS projects for building-maintenance implementation
  • Provide continuous quality improvement to departmental processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Stand, walk, negotiate stairs, and climb ladders
  • Reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
  • Manipulate tools and small items with hands
  • Lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances
  • Operate a motor vehicle

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee may be subjected to:

  • Wide ranges of ambient temperature and humidity while working on equipment
  • Overhead work and work in confined spaces

Potential hazards include:

  • Working with electricity
  • Working with heat- and noise-producing machinery and equipment
  • Working on elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices
  • Use of chemicals and solvents
