Energy Center Operator

About the Role

This is a highly skilled position requiring advanced knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control system maintenance and operation. The role allows the incumbent to resolve repair issues independently with little to no supervision while ensuring a safe working environment and supporting an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and operation of boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control systems.
• Utilize exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Read and understand technical manuals and follow instructions.
• Conduct calculations for testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair of equipment.
• Prioritize work assignments and manage time and materials efficiently.
• Complete work assignments with high quality at the lowest cost to Mercy.
• Understand forms and relationships when working from blueprints or specifications.
• Teach or conduct learning sessions as needed.
• Use various computer software such as Outlook and Mercy work order system.

Requirements

• High School diploma, equivalent, or 1 year of direct relevant experience.
• Valid Driver’s License for all Mercy locations.
• High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License (Arkansas Dept. of Labor and Licensing) for Mercy Arkansas Hospitals; must be obtained within 1 year of employment if not already held.
• Class II Boiler Operator's License (Oklahoma City or Oklahoma Dept. of Labor) for Mercy OKC Hospital; must be obtained within 1 year of employment if not already held.
• Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification for all Mercy locations with underground storage tanks; must be achieved within 90 days of employment.
• EPA Universal Certification as required by 40CFR, Part 82, Subpart F for all Mercy locations; must be achieved within 12 months of employment.
• 3 to 5 years of commercial experience working with HVAC, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.
• EPA-approved Universal Certification for handling refrigerants.
• Oral and written communication skills to interact with customers and follow instructions.
• Numerical ability for calculations related to equipment testing, installation, and repair.
• General manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work in environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 or more years of training in a Technical or Vocational School.
• 5 or more years working in a facility maintenance position within a healthcare environment.
• Additional licensure in Boiler, HVAC, or Refrigeration.
