About the role

We are seeking an Energy Analysis & Modeling Engineer to support our mission by developing, analyzing, and optimizing energy storage models that improve system performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and maintain energy models for battery storage and hybrid energy systems.
  • Perform technical and economic analysis of energy storage systems, including savings potential, payback period, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Analyze load profiles, utility tariffs, and market energy pricing to determine optimal system sizing and configuration.
  • Utilize tools like Python and other simulation softwares to model microgrids, solar + storage, and grid-tied storage applications.
  • Support battery degradation modeling to optimize system lifetime and financial returns.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate real-world performance data into modeling frameworks.
  • Work with business development and sales teams to generate customer proposals and feasibility studies for energy storage deployments.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses to evaluate different economic scenarios, including incentives, demand charges, and market fluctuations.
  • Stay up to date with policy changes, energy storage incentives, and market trends to enhance project feasibility assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in energy modeling, energy analytics, or battery storage system analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, or similar tools for energy system simulation and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of battery energy storage technologies, power markets, demand response, and grid integration.
  • Familiarity with utility rate structures, demand charges, and incentive programs (e.g., SGIP, ITC, IRA incentives).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in preparing technical reports and customer-facing presentations.
