Key Responsibilities
- Rigorously follow written procedures, job safety analyses, and company policies to ensure safe handling of energetic materials.
- Adhere to applicable regulations and standards including OSHA workplace safety, DOT Hazmat Employee training requirements under 49 CFR 172 Subpart H, local/state permits, and company licensing.
- Conduct packaging, labeling, and lot traceability activities per SOPs and work instructions.
- Perform in-process checks including visual condition, packaging integrity, and count verification; record results in batch records and electronic systems.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to resolve discrepancies, quarantine suspect material, and execute nonconformance workflows.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, standard work, and error-proofing; contribute to safe, orderly housekeeping of controlled areas.
- Prepare workstations with approved tools and materials; verify calibrations and expiry status of gauges and labels where applicable.
- Assist with routine cleaning, waste segregation per site policy, and return of excess materials following control procedures.
- Cross-train on related non-hazard operations including incoming inspection, kitting, and documentation prep.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1+ year experience in regulated manufacturing, laboratory, or logistics environment; defense, aerospace, chemical, or pharmaceutical preferred.
- Ability to complete company-required certifications and internal SOP qualifications.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and reliable adherence to procedure.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, labels, and basic technical documentation in English.
- Must pass background check and pre-employment screenings appropriate to regulated materials handling.
- Ability to stand for extended periods; lift and carry up to 50 lbs with proper technique.
- Ability to work in blast-resistant or controlled environments with defined restrictions including no unauthorized electronics and strict ESD controls.
- Tolerance for PPE use including gloves, safety glasses, and antistatic garments; occasional work in temperature-controlled areas.
- Strict adherence to access control, cleanroom, or controlled-area protocols as applicable.
- Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required trainings and clearances tied to regulated materials handling.
- Compliance with all company licensing and government requirements applicable to energetic materials.
- Travel required.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience with energetic materials handling or packaging in a controlled facility.
- Familiarity with OSHA hazardous materials safety concepts and company EHS programs.
- Experience with quality systems.
- Comfort working in static-controlled areas and following strict access, tooling, and electronics restrictions.
- Basic computer skills for data entry into MES/ERP or quality systems.
