Endoscopy Technician II

Responsibilities

The Endoscopy Technician II is responsible for performing delegated activities related to patient care and overall team support in the GI procedure room setting. Under the supervision of a physician or nurse, will assist with direct patient care during procedures and assist the physicians with necessary equipment used during colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, as well as other ancillary procedures performed in the Mayo Clinic endoscopy procedural areas. Is responsible for multiple patient care roles and duties outside of the procedure room including recovery room, and endoscope reprocessing rooms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Minimum one year Endoscopy Technician I experience or two years direct patient care experience
• Knowledge of or experience with electronic applications
• Knowledge in surgical or central service functions, including high-level disinfection process and intravenous catheterization, phlebotomy and/or GI endoscopy equipment and procedures
• Endoscopy Technician I experience as needed
• Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, Phlebotomy Technician program or equivalent health care experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions and multi-tasking
• Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting
• Experience performing multiple tasks within a work shift
• Works flexible hours to meet the demands of the work unit
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required within 60 days of hire
