Job Overview
The Endoscopy Technician is a direct patient caregiver and assists the physician in the technical aspects of performing endoscopic procedures.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- Graduate of an endoscopic or surgical technician program OR
- At least one year experience as an endo tech in a hospital or freestanding endoscopy center
- Certification in flexible endoscope reprocessing is required when eligible.

Essential Functions
- Accurately collects, labels, and delivers specimens as required
- Answers the telephone promptly and courteously
- Assist physician and RN during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Demonstrates knowledge of latex allergy and isolation precautions
- Maintain certification for flexible endoscope reprocessing or be preparing for certification while waiting to become eligible for an exam
- Maintain procedure rooms and reprocessing room clean and adequately stocked
- Provide and maintain a safe environment for staff and patient care by complying with regulatory requirements and standards
- Provide direct patient care within his or her scope of practice under the direct supervision of the RN or the physician
- Report all equipment problems to RN or Assistant Director
- Report patient complaints, problems and any untoward signs, symptoms or unusual occurrences immediately to the registered nurse
- Performs all other duties as assigned

- Adheres to patient rights and provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
- Demonstrates professionalism with family visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors
- Listens and communicates effectively

- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
