Patient Care

• Proficiency of all general endoscope procedures, equipment, and supplies including cleaning endoscopes and accessories.
• Fulfills all essential functions of the GI Lab Technician.
• Prepares for scheduled, emergent, urgent and add-on endoscopic procedures by ensuring necessary equipment, instruments and supplies are ready and set up for use.
• Functions independently within scope of position. Anticipates needs of physician and RN during procedures; and anticipates needs of department.
• Required to take emergency call after normal operating hours and weekends rotation per department needs (specific to facility of employment).
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of infection control principles and standards. Takes a proactive role in QI monitoring and improvement plans.

• Demonstrates effective and professional communication skills.
• Assists with the planning of daily assignments and distribution of work to promote department efficiency.
• Assists in the trial and evaluation of new equipment and supplies.
• Functions in a manner that is aligned with Wellstar’s pillar goals for quality care, patient satisfaction, professional standards, scope of the law, cost containment, efficiency and safety and quality.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Supports evidence-based practice and ethical accountability.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Maintains SGNA certification.
