Endoscopy Tech

Duties

• Affords assistance in setting up equipment prior to endoscopic procedures.
• Prepares patients for procedures, attaches them to monitors, and provides supplemental oxygen if necessary.
• Supports physicians during endoscopic procedures as directed.
• Tackles issues with endoscopes and follows established guidelines for their cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
• Maintains daily maintenance checks on endoscopes and logs scope processing.
• Assists in maintaining physical and environmental care between and after procedures.
• Supports inventory and ordering, informs supervisors of needed supplies, and stocks rooms daily.
• Assists with obtaining carts, films, supplies, equipment, and accepts “on call” assignments.
• Reports to the endoscopy area daily and is available in-house within 30 minutes when on call.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of endoscopy technologist experience preferred.
• Good communication skills and critical thinking with the ability to problem solve.
• Current BLS certifications through ILCOR courses such as Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.
• The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.

Physical Demands

• Must possess good physical health.
• Requires standing, sitting, or walking for long periods.
• Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
