About the role

The Endoscopy Technician II (Endo Tech) position at Houston Methodist West Hospital provides high-quality support to the gastroenterology (GI) providers and other healthcare team members. This role involves preparing for and assisting with endoscopy procedures, cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes and equipment, and supporting the endoscopy suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of GI endoscopy procedures
• Assist with the clean-up of the endoscopy suite
• Anticipate physician needs during endoscopy procedures
• Act as a mentor to Endo Tech I's
• Train and orient others in the technician role

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Three years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician
• Required BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers
• Uses computer systems to maintain patient and exam documents
• Has proficient knowledge of endoscopy equipment and proper use, handling, cleaning, and high-level disinfecting of endoscopes, equipment, and accessories
• Has proficient knowledge and appropriate use of hospital databases such as EPIC
• Has competency in a minimum of one specialty skill
