Endoscopy Center Technician (Part Time)

About the role

Performs various patient care activities and related duties in the Endoscopy Center not required by a licensed professional. Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities and duties

• Completes tasks as delegated in order to assist with organizing patient flow and general unit activities as appropriate
• Ensures endoscopes are clean promptly and ready for use
• Inventories and ensures supplies are ordered as needed
• Possesses competency in use of technology and computers
• Maintains reprocessing records
• Transports patients to and from the Endoscopy Center
• Makes suggestions/recommendations for improved operations
• Has knowledge of and utilizes unit specific equipment appropriately
• Understands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that individuals bring to interactions
• Follows hospital/department infection control policies
• Processes endoscopes in accordance with established policies and procedures

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• BLS-CPR certified
• Experience in a GI or multi-specialty medical environment and working knowledge and proficiency in the use of medical terminology
• Basic computer skills
• Effective communication skills, solid team player and a commitment to providing excellent patient service and professionalism

Physical demands and work environment

Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting. The work environment may be physically confining. Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities. Ability to do shift work as required.
