About the role

Milliken & Company is a global manufacturing leader focused on materials science, delivering breakthroughs through industry‑leading molecules and sustainable innovations across textile, flooring, chemical, and healthcare businesses. The Process Engineering co‑op position is based at Encapsys, a Milliken subsidiary in Portage, Wisconsin, which holds over 75 encapsulation patents and leads in fragrance, phase‑change, and growth encapsulation technologies. Co‑ops work on collaborative and independent projects alongside engineer/scientist leaders, each assigned a mentor, and contribute to projects that represent up to 20% of the technical workforce and have a strong impact on the bottom line.

Responsibilities

• Involvement in the day‑to‑day operations of a world‑class encapsulation plant as a process engineer
• Participation in project work, daily duties, production meetings, and production‑scale trials
• Producing written summary reports and presentations
• Working 40‑50 hours per week, occasionally working some late days, nights, and/or weekends (the plant operates 24 hours per day, 5 days per week)

Requirements

Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. or M.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in the following program: Junior or Senior Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. All employment is contingent on successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
