How You'll Help

The EMT Trainee provides support in the delivery of emergency medical services while completing an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program. Gains foundational knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to obtain EMT certification.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Licensure/Certification: Must be eligible to obtain EMT certification upon completion of training. Must successfully complete EMT training and obtain certification within a designated timeframe of 8 months from start date of EMT Program.
  • Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations. Strong communication, listening and interpersonal skills are required. Proficient in computer and keyboard skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Must be able to work efficiently, manage time, and follow policy and procedures with minimal supervision.

What We Require

  • Valid Virginia driver's license and driving record that meets the compliance standard of the Carilion Clinic driver eligibility guidelines required on the date of hire and during employment.
  • 2 years of clean driving history required (do not count the time you held a Learner's Permit).

Benefits

This role is a temporary position within CCPT. Employment in this role is limited to a maximum of 8 months from the start date of the EMT Program. The following qualification must be met during the first four months of employment: Successfully complete the position orientation program to include enrollment in a Virginia Office of EMS (OEMS) Emergency Medical Technician course. An employee who becomes certified by OEMS as an EMT within the eight months of employment in this temporary position may seek to continue employment with CCPT by applying for a CCPT EMT or Communications Specialist I position. Successfully completing the requirements of the temporary position, regardless of any related service commitments, is not a guarantee of hire into an EMT or Communications Specialist role.

Pay
