About the Role
Responsible for responding to emergencies, assessing patients, and providing treatment in accordance with PA DOH Basic Life Support standard curriculum. Also responsible for transporting patients according to established protocols and assisting Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) providers with patient care management. Performs non-emergency routine medical transports utilizing ambulances and wheelchair vans and completes appropriate documentation.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergencies and assess patients.
- Provide treatment following PA DOH Basic Life Support standards.
- Transport patients according to established protocols.
- Assist Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) providers with patient care.
- Perform non-emergency routine medical transports using ambulances and wheelchair vans.
- Complete appropriate documentation following transports.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- AHA BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Eligibility for Pennsylvania EMT certification required.
- Valid Driver’s license and eligibility to operate an EMS vehicle in Pennsylvania required.
- Completion of approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Training program required within two months of hire.
- PA DOH EMSVO eligibility required within two months of hire.
- Hazmat Awareness Training must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
- NIMS (100, 200, 700, 800) certification required within 30 days of start date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) experience preferred.
