About the role
Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, nonemergencies and interhospital transports.
Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital.
Performs non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), and bone splinting.
Performs specialized life sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service.

Responsibilities
- Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, nonemergencies and interhospital transports.
- Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital.
- Performs non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), and bone splinting.
- Performs specialized life sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service.
- Responsible for providing immediate emergency care and transport of the critically ill or injured.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record report may be required for this role.
- Consideration of employment for this role may be contingent upon the results of the Motor Vehicle Record report.
- Indiana Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician issued by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security required, or must be nationally certified and able to obtain the Indiana EMT Certification within 30 days of start of employment.
- Basic Life Support certification through the America Heart Association required.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Requires Indiana State drivers license.
Qualifications

- Indiana Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician issued by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
- National certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
- Basic Life Support certification through the America Heart Association.
- Advanced life support certifications as required by the department.
