About the Role
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responds to emergent and non-emergent requests for medical assistance and delivers high-quality patient care, treatment, and customer service in a professional, safe, and cost-effective manner within the prescribed scope of practice, established protocols, and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Maintains thorough familiarity with treatment protocols, response requirements, and quality assurance procedures.
- Stays aware of changes in system components and company policy.
- Maintains required certifications consistent with assigned tasks.
- Complies with state and company requirements for operating a motor vehicle.
- Operates a company vehicle safely and in accordance with company policy.
- Develops ability to quickly and safely locate addresses through knowledge of number systems and street layouts.
- Ensures the unit remains in a state of readiness (mechanical reliability, medical supplies, equipment, cleanliness, and appearance).
- Reports discrepancies in vehicle or equipment standards that could compromise call completion.
- Completes all appropriate EMT documentation as outlined in company policy.
- Reports problems and unusual occurrences immediately to the Lead Paramedic or Supervisor.
- Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to hygiene and uniform standards.
- Attends all mandatory in-services.
- Performs other duties as defined in the job description.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Ambulance Driver’s License (from DMV).
- Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
- State of California EMT License.
- CPR Card (American Heart Association ONLY, Health Care Provider; handwritten cards are not acceptable).
- Driving record compliant with McCormick’s Safety and Driving policy (proof required if conditional employment is offered).
- Completion of ICS courses:
- IS-100B (ICS 100)
- IS-200B (ICS 200)
- IS-700A (NIMS)
- IS-800B (NIMS)

Pay
Salary range: $19.65 - $22.05 per hour, depending on experience (applies to 12- and 24-hour shifts).
