About the role

Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation.

Responsibilities

• Complete an on-site 4-month EMT Student Program that will educate and prepare you to challenge the National Registry Exam and become a Wisconsin Licensed EMT.
• Learn skills including EMS vehicle operations, airway management, cardiac emergencies, pharmacology, pediatrics, trauma, and obstetrics.
• Upon receiving Wisconsin EMT licensure, be hired as an employee and complete a 15-month commitment of continuous employment.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Superior’s Driving Policy; ability to safely operate a vehicle in various conditions, including daytime, nighttime and inclement weather.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence.
• Ability to satisfactorily meet company physical assessments/tests/drug screening (must be able to lift 137.5 lbs).
• High School diploma or GED required, unless currently enrolled in high school.
• Must be 18 years or older to be considered.
• Admission will be approved based on passing an entrance assessment.
