Responsibilities

• Provides critical care interventions and patient transport independently
• Delivers quality care to a varied patient population
• Operates ambulance safely and appropriately at all times
• Performs patient assessments and evaluations effectively and promptly
• Institutes treatment plans prioritized appropriately and within TDHS care guidelines
• Evaluates patient status to monitor intervention effectiveness and revises treatment plans as needed
• Responds quickly to patients' requests for assistance with personal hygiene needs
• Documents and organizes patient care information accurately and thoroughly, with no more than 5% of service reports returned for completion
• Completes the daily checklist for assigned ambulances to ensure readiness for emergencies
• Changes cot linen and removes soiled items, dirt, and trash after each run
• Notifies appropriate personnel immediately when supplies and equipment are unavailable
• Maintains cleanliness and functionality of cleaning, sleeping, and crew quarter areas regularly
• Performs daily tasks to keep the ambulance bay clean and safe

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Less than 1 year of experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Emergency Medical Tech - Basic (EMT-B) certification
• Valid driver’s license (Texas driver’s license required within 90 days of hire if moving from out of state)

Skills

• Earned Instructor status preferred
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), PALS, and instructor certifications preferred
• Knowledge of professional and technical requirements with necessary documentation
