Responsibilities
- Provides critical care interventions and patient transport independently
- Delivers quality care to a varied patient population
- Operates ambulance safely and appropriately at all times
- Performs patient assessments and evaluations effectively and promptly
- Institutes treatment plans prioritized appropriately and within TDHS care guidelines
- Evaluates patient status to monitor intervention effectiveness and revises treatment plans as needed
- Responds quickly to patients' requests for assistance with personal hygiene needs
- Documents and organizes patient care information accurately and thoroughly, with no more than 5% of service reports returned for completion
- Completes the daily checklist for assigned ambulances to ensure readiness for emergencies
- Changes cot linen and removes soiled items, dirt, and trash after each run
- Notifies appropriate personnel immediately when supplies and equipment are unavailable
- Maintains cleanliness and functionality of cleaning, sleeping, and crew quarter areas regularly
- Performs daily tasks to keep the ambulance bay clean and safe
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Less than 1 year of experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Emergency Medical Tech - Basic (EMT-B) certification
- Valid driver’s license (Texas driver’s license required within 90 days of hire if moving from out of state)
Skills
- Earned Instructor status preferred
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), PALS, and instructor certifications preferred
- Knowledge of professional and technical requirements with necessary documentation
