Responsibilities

• Function as a primary care provider in the out-of-hospital setting
• Be responsible for all aspects of care provided to the sick and injured
• Provide basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, use of the automatic defibrillator, and assist patients with taking some of their own medications as protocol allows
• Drive the ambulance in a safe and responsible manner under all conditions
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the street, highway, and addressing systems in which you will be working
• Understand all applicable legal, moral, and ethical issues surrounding the emergency medical service environment
• Dedicate yourself to continuing education and maintenance of licensures and certifications
• Have minimum mechanical knowledge of the ambulance and be able to troubleshoot when issues arise

Requirements

• Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire
• High School Diploma/GED
• Current Kansas State EMT Certification
• Current National Registry Certification
• Current Basic Life Support Certification
• Driver's License (must be valid, current and unrestricted)
• Maintains an insurable Driving Record
