Responsibilities
- Function as a primary care provider in the out-of-hospital setting
- Be responsible for all aspects of care provided to the sick and injured
- Provide basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, use of the automatic defibrillator, and assist patients with taking some of their own medications as protocol allows
- Drive the ambulance in a safe and responsible manner under all conditions
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the street, highway, and addressing systems in which you will be working
- Understand all applicable legal, moral, and ethical issues surrounding the emergency medical service environment
- Dedicate yourself to continuing education and maintenance of licensures and certifications
- Have minimum mechanical knowledge of the ambulance and be able to troubleshoot when issues arise
Requirements
- Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire
- High School Diploma/GED
- Current Kansas State EMT Certification
- Current National Registry Certification
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Driver's License (must be valid, current and unrestricted)
- Maintains an insurable Driving Record
