Position Overview

Central Valley Fire District (CVFD) is seeking qualified and motivated EMTs to join our Reserve EMS Transport Personnel Program. This part-time position supports non-emergency interfacility transports (IFTs) and selected out-of-district 911 meet-up/transports. Reserve EMTs play a critical role in expanding EMS capacity, relieving pressure on suppression crews, and enhancing service delivery to rural communities. It is anticipated that there will be opportunities for wildland fire deployments as a Red Carded Fireline EMT. This position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to be part of an innovative and growing EMS model. It also serves as a potential pathway into full-time EMS employment within CVFD.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide non-emergency medical transport for patients between healthcare facilities
  • Assist in select 911 transports
  • Deliver high-quality patient care under CVFD and partner agency protocols
  • Ensure safe vehicle operation and timely documentation of patient care

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current EMT certification (State of Montana or National Registry)
  • Valid CPR/BLS certification
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Participation in a structured interview and a medical scenario assessment
  • Completion of CVFD district orientation and policy compliance
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism in medical environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in EMS transport or interfacility transfers
  • Familiarity with rural EMS operations or multi-agency coordination
