EMS Lead Instructor (Evenings)

The Opportunity

Lifeline Ambulance is seeking a qualified EMT Lead Instructor for its EMS academy. The EMT Lead Instructor works directly under the Director of Education instructing EMT classes.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily class activities
• Manage the learning environment
• Maintain records as required by EMS system, Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
• Deliver didactic content, direct and control classroom discussions, conduct practical skills development sessions, evaluate student performance on cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills
• Grade quizzes, tests, projects and homework assignments
• Design/develop and effectively use testing instruments
• Mentor students and instructors
• Adequately use lesson plans
• Maintain office hours and participate in department meetings and seminars

Requirements

• Current IDPH EMT-B or Paramedic licensure
• Current IDPH Lead Instructor licensure and National Association of Emergency Medical System Educators (NAEMSE) Instructor, Part I Certification
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a licensed EMT-B or Paramedic
• Previous EMT-B or EMT-P teaching experience (American Heart Association) BLS Instructor Certification (preferred but not required)
• Personable with good organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fluid environment and demonstrate improvisational skills
• Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and other related areas
• Flexible schedule in order to be available when needed
• Ability to present information to adult learners in a controlled environment
