EMS Laboratory Instructor

Laurel Ridge Community College is seeking part-time EMS Laboratory Instructors to supervise and instruct students in skills practice and testing within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program.

About the Role

Laboratory Instructors are assigned to specific class times and stations as determined by the lead instructor. Responsibilities include delivering training, evaluating student competency, managing equipment and supplies, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training or retraining on skills according to program standards, current textbooks, and skill sheets, ensuring instruction aligns with lecture content.
• Evaluate psychomotor and affective competency based on established criteria and complete required documentation.
• Oversee equipment and supplies to ensure safety and proper use; report any damage to the lead instructor.
• Ensure supplies are used only for laboratory activities and are safely stored or disposed of, including biohazards and sharps.
• Restock equipment and supplies as needed and ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is used.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including completing College timesheets.
• Cover assignments across the college’s service region as required.

Requirements

• Current certification as EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, or RN with EMS field experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the EMS field.
• Completion of at least one recertification cycle at the current certification level.
• Proven academic excellence and subject matter knowledge, evidenced by training, experience, or an associate degree.
• Ability to travel to sites/campuses and training locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Paramedic license.

Pay

Hourly rate schedule effective July 1, 2024:

• Certificate: $27.15 per hour
• Associate Degree: $28.24 per hour
• Bachelor’s Degree: $29.32 per hour

The minimum hourly rate for this part-time position is $27.15 per hour, with actual starting rate based on education. Hours cannot exceed 29 per week.
