About the Role

The RCC Emergency Medical Services Education faculty supports program functions by providing didactic and clinical instruction, customer service, and data support. This position is responsible for instructional performance, documentation, and maintaining program compliance with accreditation standards set by Robeson Community College, the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), and other professional accreditation bodies.

The faculty member supports student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. They are also responsible for quality instruction and effective participation in the total affairs of the college.

Relationships

The EMS Education faculty member functions under the direction and supervision of the RCC EMS Director and interacts with college employees in coordination with appropriate vice-presidents and/or management personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the EMS Education Faculty and Liaison for EMS Continuing Education Training.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom standards, including effective management of students and physical management of classroom and training facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Foster meaningful relationships with internal and external partners to carry out the purpose of instruction and training.
  • Assist the community college and other approved entities with workshops, seminars, and support services as requested.
  • Counsel students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
  • Maintain necessary North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) and CoAEMSP records.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications, credentials, and licenses.
  • Secure college assets such as equipment, supplies, and facilities.
  • Stay abreast of current teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
  • Assist with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting texts, and constructing a syllabus.
  • Maintain communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate.
  • Participate in the institutional planning process as requested by the EMS Director.
  • Identify potential services, workshops, seminars, and classes of value or need for Robeson Community College or its affiliated foundations.
  • Identify and communicate appropriate supplementary programs, projects, and proposals for funding from local, state, federal, and/or private sources.
  • Organize procedures for the implementation of all official policies and regulations of the Robeson Community College District, NCOEMS, and CoAEMSP.
  • Organize, plan, and consult with internal teams/committees.
  • Coordinate the development and scheduling of EMS Training for all RCC EMS Education stakeholders.
  • Direct the work of part-time staff working for or assigned to the Emergency Medical Services Office.
