About the role
Rappahannock Community College (RCC) seeks applicants for EMS Adjunct Instructor positions. This position is part-time.
Responsibilities
- Deliver EMS program content in classroom and laboratory settings.
- Prepare students for national testing.
- Involvement in student placement for field experiences.
- Teach a maximum of the equivalent of 10 workload credits in fall and spring semesters, and eight workload credits in the summer term.
- Negotiate teaching assignments with the Dean of Health Sciences, including campus, hours of instruction, and teaching load.
- Teaching options may include day, evening, and weekend schedules to accommodate personal schedule.
Requirements
- Virginia and/or National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician designation or higher with an unencumbered license to practice in Virginia.
- Significant experience as a provider in a high call volume agency or equivalent experience in other agencies.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in EMS or equivalent fields.
- VEMSES and/or NEMSES instructor designation or eligibility.
- Experience teaching in approved EMS programs.
- Teaching experience at the community college level preferred.
Qualifications
- EMT Instruction: EMT designation or higher, significant experience, and BLS and/or ALS knowledge.
- AEMT Instruction/Paramedic Instruction: Paramedic designation, American Heart Association CPR for Health Care Providers certification, and significant experience as an ALS provider.
- Demonstrated competency in BLS and/or ALS knowledge, psychomotor skills, and affective domain evaluation.
Skills
- Knowledgeable about best practices, innovative strategies, and instructional technologies.
- Well-connected to the communities served by RCC.
Benefits
Salary is $793 to $1,463 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule
Teaching assignments are negotiated with the Dean of Health Sciences to include campus, hours of instruction, and teaching load. Day, evening, and weekend teaching options may be available.
