Adjunct EMS Instructor

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Provide students with course syllabus, grading/attendance policy, and other relevant information in a timely manner.
• Relate instructional materials, discussions, examples, and illustrations.
• Pace instruction over the academic term.
• Provide students with timely assessments and return assessment results promptly.
• Relate assessments to course objectives and follow acceptable department and college grading policies.
• Utilize appropriate instructional technology and maintain a positive environment for optimum student performance.
• Submit reports in a timely manner and practice effective class management.
• Prioritize duties, use time wisely, and adhere to class schedules and meeting times.
• Provide effective classroom/lab supervision and maintain accurate records.
• Handle students and records in a professional manner.
• Perform other duties as required, including demonstrating EMS skills, using instructional equipment, and supporting patient simulation scenarios.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current South Carolina EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic certification.
• Current National Registry EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic certification.
• Minimum of three years of EMS experience at the certification level to be taught.
• Must possess, or be eligible to obtain before teaching assignment, South Carolina DPH EMS instructor certification appropriate to the instructional level.
• Must have required instructor methodology training.
• Must have current CPR instructor credential.
• Able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
