About the role
As a HIKE volunteer, you will work one-on-one with students in grades K-8 who are improving their reading skills. Your role includes helping students gain confidence, succeed in school, and envision new possibilities for their future.
Responsibilities
- Work one-on-one with students in grades K-8 to improve their reading skills
- Provide support and encouragement during reading sessions
- Adapt lessons based on individual student needs
- Attend training sessions to learn effective teaching strategies
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
Requirements
- Flexible availability to meet the needs of the program
- Ability to commit to 1 hour per week
- Pass a background check
- Attend an orientation session
Qualifications
- No prior teaching experience required
