Employment Specialist - Sub Pool

About the role

The Employment Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities by providing vocational support and supervision. They are responsible for securing employment opportunities that align with both the individual's skills and the needs of potential employers.

Responsibilities

• Assess skills and talents for individuals on their caseload
• Develop and implement service plans
• Develop leads and contacts at community businesses
• Secure employment opportunities that are a match for both the individual and the employer
• Work at the job site with individuals to help train both the individual and the employer on effective communication techniques, accommodations, and developing natural supports in the workplace
• Coordinate with residential supports, families, and other support team members to ensure employment success

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related field preferred
• Experience working with adults with disabilities or experience in employment rehabilitation preferred
• Must be able to obtain Employment Outcomes Professional certificate
• Flexible work schedule may be required (Saturday, Sunday, or evenings)
• Maintain strict confidentiality
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Pass criminal background check by the Oregon Background Check Unit (BCU)
• Possess valid Oregon driver’s license and proof of personal automobile insurance
• Pass pre-employment and random drug screening
• Complete 12 hours of job-related in-service training annually
