Employment Specialist

About the role

Employment Specialists play a vital role in making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people they support each day. They teach life and work skills on a daily basis while developing individualized activities and employment opportunities. Employment Specialists travel to community locations to promote personal growth and independence and must communicate and problem-solve effectively with people supported, team members, and service providers to ensure high-quality services.

This role supports the development of workplace skills to achieve successful vocational outcomes while ensuring the timely completion of required documentation. It involves fostering and maintaining positive relationships with employers and community-based sites and playing a key role in maintaining documentation required for Life Plan Reviews. Additionally, the position assists people in building interpersonal skills, creating resumes, developing job leads, completing applications, and strengthening interview skills to align their abilities, interests, and skills with appropriate employment opportunities.

The Employment Specialist provides job development, training, job coaching services, employment-related interventions, and situational counseling, while ensuring compliance with regulations, agency policies, and procedures. The role also contributes to the identification and development of new services and support opportunities that enhance people's quality of life and choice.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely completion of required documentation.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Valid NYS Driver's License is required.

Pay

$18.75 - $21.50 per hour based on experience.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM (hours may vary depending on needs). The position is 37.5 hours per week.
