Axiom is seeking an Employment Lawyer to support clients in the Detroit metro area, providing expert legal advice and support across a variety of industries to ensure compliance and mitigate risk in all aspects of employment law.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, workplace policies, and other labor and employment-related documents.
  • Provide legal guidance on employment law matters, including wage and hour compliance, discrimination claims, pay transparency, workplace investigations, and employee relations.
  • Collaborate with clients, HR teams, and business leaders on workforce management initiatives, employment disputes, and compliance projects.
  • Manage employment-related legal issues for clients across industries such as manufacturing, automotive, retail, and tech.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes to provide proactive counsel on evolving labor and employment laws.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, and related workplace compliance requirements.
  • Proven track record of advising clients on employment litigation avoidance, workplace investigations, policy development, and risk management strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, technology, and problem-solving skills.
  • Juris Doctor degree or equivalent and licensed to practice law in Michigan or eligible for admission.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with employment litigation and multi-state compliance issues.
  • SHRM, HRCI, or other relevant employment law or HR-related certifications.

Pay

The estimated total compensation for this full-time role is $104,500–$325,000 per year. Compensation decisions are based on experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
