About the RoleThe Employer Brand Manager will build and scale the strategy, narrative, and operating system that shape how priority talent understands OpenAI. This senior individual contributor will position OpenAI as a frontier research lab and translate its mission, culture, technical ambition, and opportunity for impact into credible campaigns, stories, recruiting resources, and candidate experiences. ResponsibilitiesLead OpenAI’s employer brand strategy across priority talent audiences.Develop a distinctive and credible "why OpenAI / why now" talent narrative.Use candidate, employee, recruiter, and market insights to refine audience priorities, positioning, content, and candidate experience.Build a scalable content and enablement system covering the careers site, employee stories, job descriptions, outreach, events, closing materials, and recruiter guidance.Ensure the external employer brand remains consistent throughout the candidate journey, from initial awareness through onboarding.Measure brand perception, audience engagement, candidate understanding, candidate experience, and recruiting impact.Build an AI-native operating model across Recruiting, Communications, Marketing, Brand, Recruiting Operations, Legal, and external partners. Qualifications7+ years of experience in employer branding, talent marketing, research communications, recruitment marketing, brand strategy, or a closely related field.Experience working across both high-growth startups and larger, established organizations.Experience building an employer brand capability from the ground up and translating strategy into scalable systems and content.Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to make fast-moving technical work accessible without losing accuracy or nuance.Ability to build trust with technical leaders and influence senior technical stakeholders.Experience using research and data to define audiences, identify perception gaps, prioritize investments, and measure recruiting impact.Sound judgment in high-stakes environments where accuracy, approvals, and discretion matter.Experience leading external agencies or creative partners and using AI tools to improve the creativity, quality, and scale of work.
