About the role
The Employee Safety & Claims Coordinator - Apprentice/Entry-Level role provides support in managing workers’ compensation and injury claims through administrative, data tracking, and coordination activities. Working under the guidance of the Manager and senior team members, this role assists with claim review, documentation, reporting, and follow-up while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Support the review of workers’ compensation and work-related injury claims, including tracking basic claim activity, reserves, and documentation under the guidance of the Manager and senior team members to clearly understand situations and assist in determining next steps.
- Proactively assist the Manager with day-to-day claims administration.
- Provide administrative and operational assistance with claim files, correspondence, data entry, reporting, and follow-up tasks while demonstrating strong execution, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Gather, track, and interpret claim data to identify trends, surface potential issues, and contribute to practical, solution-oriented outcomes.
- Approach challenges with a solution-focused mindset—identifying opportunities for improvement where others may see obstacles.
- Participate in collaboration with internal teams, carriers, and stakeholders, contributing ideas and insights that support continuous improvement.
- Aid in developing reports, tools, and metrics to monitor injury trends and claim activity, helping drive data-informed decisions.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment through an engaged, proactive attitude and willingness to share ideas.
- Support audit preparation, documentation, and process improvement efforts by organizing and validating required information.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Safety, Risk Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Prior internship, coursework, or exposure to Human Resources, employee safety, insurance, or claims management preferred, but not required.
Skills
- Basic understanding of Workers’ Compensation, employee safety, or Human Resources practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience or familiarity with HR or claims systems (e.g., Oracle HRMS or similar) is a plus but not required.
