About the role

The James Madison University Libraries seek applications for a full-time Employee Resources and Organizational Learning Specialist. This position provides support to ensure smooth operations for personnel actions, coordinates performance management, oversees wage (part-time) and student employee processes, procedures, and related budget allocations, supports organizational learning within JMU Libraries, and participates in cross-training for critical core responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, process, and coordinate personnel actions ensuring accuracy and compliance for full-time, part-time, wage, student employees, and graduate assistants.
  • Maintain employee records, databases, and organizational information and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
  • Cook up the performance evaluation process, communicate timelines and expectations, and support supervisors and employees throughout the annual evaluation cycle.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for wage and student employees.
  • Contribute to onboarding, professional development, and engagement programs that foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Aid in the planning and delivery of learning and development initiatives and collaborate with campus partners to support organizational learning.
  • Serve as a resource for Libraries employees and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience providing high-quality administrative or employment-related support, including processing personnel actions, maintaining records, or supporting employee programs.
  • Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, or administrative systems to track information and support decision-making.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, supervisors, and campus partners.
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic, collegial, and collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to building environments that are accessible and welcoming.

Pay

$41,000 - $44,000

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week.
